I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.
So Why Did I Decide to Build a Website & Why Should You Read It!
The summer 2013, I was invited to teach a class on point and shoot photography. While the interview went well and I was offered the job, it ultimately fell through. But not before I made a small investment in a point and shoot camera, and the time it took to create three outlines for lessons and projects.
It was at this point that I began thinking about changing my website host for my photography, from a portfolio host, to create my own site. I found that I wanted to do more with my site then just have a web presence. I enjoyed the process of researching the lessons, and at the same time found myself reinforcing the basics of photography. While at the same time I continue to learn more about Adobe Lightroom, and am trying to teach myself Photoshop CC, while working on my own projects.
So here I am, looking to fill my site not only with my pictures but with the information and the process I used in creating them. So in designing my site I asked myself “Self, what would you want to include in this site that you don’t get from other sites? How could I stand out from the thousands of other sites that are out there”? The answer, I can’t! I mean let’s face it; I Googled “photography” and got 927 million results in under a second. “Digital photography” narrowed it to 659 million, “digital photography tips” 126 million, “digital photography techniques” to 53.2 million, “digital photography techniques” 32.3 million. I don’t expect to be at the top of those lists.
So what do I bring to the table? The journey! There are so many things that I have been studying, reading, researching and teaching myself, things that I want to learn and do, so if nothing else it will be an account of the process, the learning curve and the journey. The things that I’m interested in and want to know more about will be covered here. My wish is that you too will want to know more about these things and take the journey with me.
